THE HARBOR AT HICKORY HILL SHARES THE HERITAGE OF ONE OF THEIR RESIDENTS TO CELEBRATE WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

Prattville, Ala. (March 2024) — Women’s History Month has been observed in the United States for over 35 years. It has been fundamental in recognizing women’s rights and the historical transformation of women’s rights in America. Never will you find women with such rich wisdom, experience, vibrancy and contribution as those living out their Golden Years at a senior living community. Such is the case at The Harbor at Hickory Hill, who wish to honor and share the stories of one of their beloved residents, Betty Scoggins.

Mr. and Ms. Scoggins moved to Prattville and together they built a house. Coming from a large family, Ms. Scoggins always wanted to have children, but they were unable to have their own. They adopted their beautiful daughter, Amy, and Ms. Scoggins says, “God could not have sent a more perfect baby for me and Bob”.

Mr. Scoggins was in the Air Force, and Ms. Scoggins enjoyed going all over the United States with him, stopping at every thrift shop and yard sale they saw. This led to her having several jobs – her favorites being a dental assistant and working for the school system.

Ms. Scoggins has a strong relationship with God and has always trusted Him, even in the most trying of times, including battling B-Cell Lymphoma. For the past four years that Ms. Scoggins has been part of the family at The Harbor, she has welcomed and guided so many new residents, as well as staff. She is always willing to talk and offer you a comfortable chair in her room to sit.

Ms. Scoggins is just one of the many amazing women at The Harbor at Hickory Hill whose legacies have touched the lives of many.
