The Harbor at Hickory Hill Partners with Hope for Appalachia to Prepare ‘Hope Boxes’

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (March 10, 2020) – The Harbor at Hickory Hill, a premier memory care community serving the Prattville area, has partnered with Hope for Appalachia by sending 55 “Hope Boxes” to children in the poverty-stricken Appalachian regions of Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. 

The residents, their families and the staff of The Harbor at Hickory Hill donated money, supplies and time to fill the Hope Boxes, each about the size of a shoebox, with school supplies, hygiene items and toys for children. 

"It is an honor to participate in such a worthy cause as Hope for Appalachia. Our residents, team members, and family members took such great care in filling boxes to the brim with just the right items to help the children of the impoverished areas in the Appalachian Mountains. It is truly heartwarming and inspiring to see how much people really care and are so eager to help us. Thank you all so much for helping us not only meet our goal but exceed it," said Lynn Mann, executive director of The Harbor at Hickory Hill.

Hope for Appalachia is a network of churches, businesses, and individuals who deliver the boxes to the impoverished communities. Teams based in North Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia coordinate an annual trip to serve the children and their families.
